A group of rafters had to be rescued yesterday after they ran into low water levels. Their trip started in Jasper early Saturday morning, but ended just upstream of where the Smoky River meets the Kakwa River where they had to be evacuated around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
STARS Air Ambulance brought the five rafters to safety. Grande Prairie RCMP is taking the opportunity to remind anyone heading out on the water this long weekend to take the necessary precautions ahead of time.
