UPDATED: Extreme cold warning ended for Peace Country

UPDATE: Environment Canada has ended the warning for the Peace Country communities.

An extreme cold warning is in effect for the Peace Country, including Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge and Peace River. Environment Canada issued the warning just after midnight with temperatures expected to reach minus 40 with the wind chill. Those going outside this morning are advised to cover up to avoid frostbite, and anyone who feels it is too cold for them outdoors is urged to stay inside. Temperatures are expected to warm up this afternoon but the extreme cold could return tonight.
