St. John Paull II Catholic School Fabrication teacher Jacques Lecerf has been awarded the CAREERS Award of Excellence in Skilled Trades.
According to the Grande Prairie Catholic School division, the award is given by youth career advocacy organization- CAREERS: The Next Generation, in recognition of mentors who make valuable contributions to Alberta’s designated trades.
The GPCSD says Mr. Lecerf has been a mentor for his students throughout his career through his emphasis on safety awareness and ensuring his students are employable and able to join the workforce.
The teacher says he has always been passionate about trades, and the award validates his hard work in ensuring his students are prepared for a career after school.
“I am blessed to work in a role where I can assist students to become better prepared for life after high school,” he says.
The schoolboard calls Lecerf’s commitment and dedication to his students “paramount,” and his teaching provides “life-changing” opportunities for students in his program.
