Real estate developer linked to drug trafficking network

UPDATE: Phillips plead guilty to some of his drug and fraud charges and was sentenced to seven years in jail. He was also convicted in a separate double homicide case, for which he was given a life sentence with no chance for parole for 30 years.

The man charged in connection with the largest ever fentanyl seizure in Grande Prairie is in even more trouble. 27 year old Mark Richard Phillips was arrested in October 2014 when ALERT found 1.8 kilograms of cocaine and nearly 2,000 fentanyl pills in his home, all worth almost $250,000 on the street. Communications Manager Mike Tucker says the investigation didn’t stop there.

“We were able to reveal that his house was purchased through ill-gotten gains and profits off of the drug addiction and the sale of drugs he had in that community.”

Phillips is facing fraud and money laundering charges, along with his previous offences.
