Armed robbery linked to drug trafficking investigation

A man wanted for an armed robbery in Grande Prairie was also part of a separate drug trafficking investigation by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team. Another man reported being assaulted and robbed at gunpoint while walking to his vehicle in GP the night of July 25th. Cash and jewelry was stolen, and he was hit in the side of his head with a gun.

A joint investigation with RCMP led to the arrest of 23 year old Lahi Ismail Abdi four days later at his home on Westpointe Drive. 23 year old Victoria Rivera Nordgahen was also arrested and charged with drug-related offences after evidence of drug trafficking was found in the house, including 25 grams of cocaine, ammunition, and cash. Packaging materials and ammunition were also turned up.

The gun used to hit the assault victim has not yet been found and police are still looking for information on its location. Abdi is facing 12 criminal charges surrounding robbery, assault, trafficking and firearms offences.
