$17.3M lottery win for Grande Prairie family

A Grande Prairie family is $17.3 million richer. Gerald and Elizabeth Fritsma and their son Dean won the Lotto 6-49 draw on June 17th. They bought their winning ticket at Mountview Grocery.

The Fritsmas tell the Canadian Press that they believe karma played a part in their win, as they’ve helped so many friends and family in the past. They plan on investing most of their winnings, with no big plans for the cash.

Gerald and Elizabeth are both retired, while Dean has worked for Alberta Health Services for several years, earning him a Person of the Year award from the Grande Prairie and District Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities in 2014.
