Anthrax found in northern Alberta cattle

Beef producers in Alberta are being warned to look out for anthrax, after cases have been confirmed in two separate cattle farms in the Fort Vermilion area. The hot and dry weather the area has been getting can make it easier for livestock to be exposed.

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry says there’s normally a few cases reported in western Canada reported around this time of year, and there have been confirmed cases in Saskatchewan recently. If you suspect an animal maybe be infected, or if one suddenly dies, contact a veterinarian immediately.
