Another Peace Region community is gearing up to celebrate its 100th Anniversary.
The town of Spirit River will be 100 years old next year and will be hosting centennial celebrations August 5 to 7, 2016. The organizing committee is well into preparations , with entertainment including Ukrainian and First Nations Dancing, historic tours, textile demonstrations, and an art show planned.
The are 40 artists already involved and the festivities will count on the efforts of close to 150 local volunteers.
Some funding from the federal government has been set aside to help pay for the celebrations. The $39,800 will come from the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program.
