Nearly $5.5 million more in capital MSI funding

2014 was a banner year for Municipal Sustainability Initiative funding in Grande Prairie, with just over $10 million dollars allocated. 2015 will see slightly more that with the $4.8 million that came from the budget surplus in March, and another $5.5 million released today.

The city will see that put towards projects like roads and bridges, emergency services, and sports facilities. Last year it helped build the sports field and parking lots at the Community Knowledge Campus.

If you add in the Basic Municipal Transportation Grant and a little operating funding, the province’s total contribution this round is about $14 million.
