Grovedale man facing weapons related charges after allegedly breaking release order

Numerous weapons were seized, and a Grovedale man is facing charges resulting from an investigation by Grande Prairie RCMP that was opened in early September.

Officers opened the investigation after receiving a report about a man going against his release order by having guns and ammunition. On Tuesday, September 19, Grande Prairie officers, with the help of members from the Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a home in the area of Township Road 701A and Range Road 72, where they seized several weapons, including a loaded sawed-off shotgun, three rifles, knives, and multiple rounds of ammunition.

David Monette was arrested at the house and is facing over 30 weapons-related charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unsafe storage of firearms.

The 44-year-old has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 27.
