Those interested in volunteering at the 2024 Alberta Winter Games can sign up over the weekend. On Saturday, September 23, winter games organizers will be holding a Volunteer Rally at the Design Works arena from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Next February, Grande Prairie is set to host over 1,900 athletes ages 11 to 17, along with coaches, officials, and spectators. According to Games General Manager Lisa Kerkoff, for the multi-sport event to succeed, volunteers will be needed for numerous roles and is open to all ages, with younger volunteers being supervised by an adult. Some of the volunteering roles include food services, transportation, chaperones, souvenir sales, and games ambassadors, with Kerkoff adding there is a job for everyone willing to pitch in.
“This is an exciting time for our city,” Kirkoff says. “4 days, 18 sports, 9 sports venues will all come together to create one amazing event!”
The 2024 Alberta Winter Games in Grande Prairie will be the first time the Alberta Winter Games have been held in four years.
