The Swanavon School grounds has upgraded to new recycled mulch after recieving grant funding from the Kal Tire Replay Fund. According to the Grande Prairie Public School Division, the $15,000 in funding was used to purchase the recycled turf, which, according to the division, will “enrich the school’s outdoor environment for students and the community.”
Swanavon School Principal Garth Paquette explains the school for 65 years has been a landmark in the community.
“This grant enables us to maintain a high-quality playground for our students and an outdoor space our school and community can be proud of,” Paquette says.
The GPPSD says the funding for the Swanavon outdoor space is an example of how community partnerships can improve academic, social, and emotional well-being.
