The special air quality statement for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview and Peace River – Fairview – High Prairie – Manning regions ended as of 11:24 a.m. Monday.
Environment Canada issued the statement for the area at 10:41 p.m. Friday night due to smoke in the area causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility. Throughout the weekend, the area was at a 10+ on the air quality index, leading to the cancellation of the City of Grande Prairie’s annual Harvest Festival.
As of 11 a.m., Monday, September 18th, the Peace Airshed Zone Association reported Grande Prairie’s air quality was at a three on the Air Quality Health Index.
