Man shot by Dawson Creek RCMP identified

The man killed by RCMP in Dawson Creek last Thursday has been identified as 48 year old James Daniel McIntyre by the B.C. Coroners Service.

Police were responding to a report that someone was damaging property at a Site C open house when they came across the masked man outside of a restaurant in the same building. Although it’s since been confirmed that he was not the man they were looking for, he refused to drop his knife and was shot.

The hacker group Anonymous claims he was an associate of theirs and took responsibility for some RCMP websites being down Sunday. They have threatened to release personal information about the officer who fired.
