Grande Prairie unable to accept new NWT evacuees needing hotel room: GPREP

Hotel rooms for evacuees in the City of Grande Prairie are full, and hours of operation for the Evacuation Reception Centre phone line are changing as of Wednesday.

As of Wednesday, August 23, the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership says it cannot accept new evacuees from the Northwest Territories needing a hotel room. While GPREP cannot take in any more evacuees needing lodging, those who already have a hotel room are told to stay there. They also can register evacuees who have their own place to stay.

According to GPREP, NWT residents can continue to access information at the reception centre, located in the gymnasium at the south entrance of the First Alliance Church. The reception centre is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends, or at the reception centre’s phone line from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Wednesday.

GPREP has a list of resources for those from the NWT on its website.
