Annual county recycling roundup set for September 9th

County of Grande Prairie residents are being urged to wrangle up their larger hazardous waste items and take part in the annual Recycling Roundup in Hythe in early September.

“This annual event is a great way for our residents to safely and effectively dispose of everyday items that don’t belong in the landfill, like household hazardous waste, electronics, appliances and more,” says county Recycling Coordinator Kate Biendarra.

“By disposing of these items correctly, we are diverting waste from our landfills, reducing our carbon footprint and giving items that we no longer need a new life.”

Items that can be safely dropped off during the one-day recycling roundup include cleaners, chemicals, paint, batteries, used oil, propane tanks under 100 pounds, and tires.

County residents unable to attend the Recycling Roundup can drop off their recycling at the Clairmont Centre for Recycling and Waste Management, the West Grande Prairie Regional Landfill and other facilities during regular hours of operation.

The Recycling Roundup is set to run Saturday, September 9th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hythe Curling Club.
