Kidnapping, assault charges laid against trio from Grande Prairie area

Two people from Beaverlodge and a third from Grande Prairie are facing charges, including kidnapping for their alleged involvement in an assault near Huallen last week.

Beaverlodge RCMP say they received a report that a man had been assaulted, sprayed with mace and left near Township Road 710 and Range Road 92 around 5:30 a.m. on August 14th. Further investigation revealed the victim had allegedly been assaulted and kidnapped by three suspects in Grande Prairie before being dropped near the site of the initial report.

Subsequently, 29-year-old Brandon Mayes and 42-year-old Tenika Leblanc of Beaverlodge, and 20-year-old Mary Estelle of Grande Prairie are each facing charges of kidnapping, while Mayes and Estelle were also charged with assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

All three were remanded in custody and will next appear in court on August 23rd.
