Annual Beaverlodge Fireman’s Ball nearly sold out

Equipment for the inside of the new Beaverlodge fire station and working towards a new brush truck are two of the items being fundraised for at this year’s annual Fireman’s Ball. President of the Beaverlodge Firefighters Association Kish Wicks explains that the annual event is more commonly known as Lobsterfest, however, the name was changed a couple of years ago and has since stuck.

“Originally, it started with a fire chief who decided he wanted to bring in steak and lobster for his firefighters, and the community got wind of it, so then it was opened up to the community and was a great hit,” Wicks says. “We realized this is a great way for us to fundraise for a new fire station for when we need new trucks or any equipment.”

Wicks adds the fundraising efforts take some strain off of the municipality regarding funding current and upcoming projects.

“At this time, we will have a lot of items for outfitting the interior of the building. That would include lockers for our members and a few [pieces] of new equipment.”

Another item the firefighters association is starting to fundraise for is a new brush truck for wildland calls. According to the National Fire Protection Association standards, the department follows the current rig will be out of service in a few years.

The Firefighters Ball is being held on September 7th, and as of July 29th, there were only 25 tickets left. Tickets can be purchased from a member of the firefighters association or the Beaverlodge Fire Department.
