Buses full of local athletes have made their way to Okotoks to compete in the Alberta Summer Games. Competition got underway Friday after the opening ceremonies Thursday night.
This is the first time the Alberta Summer Games have been held since the 2018 games in the City and County of Grande Prairie due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly 3,800 youth aged 11 to 17 are taking part in 14 sports.
Grande Prairie is part of Zone 8, which encompasses the northwestern part of the province. The city will host the 2024 Alberta Winter Games in February of next year.
