Charges laid after pellet gun shot at vehicle with child inside

An incident involving the shooting of a pellet gun at a vehicle with people inside has led to charges being laid. Grande Prairie RCMP says it got a report around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18th about two people who allegedly pointed and shot a pistol at the occupants of another vehicle, which included a 12-year-old boy.

It is reported that officers found the suspect vehicle and tried to pull it over in the area of 68 Avenue and Resources Road when the vehicle fled. Police allege that as they followed, a woman in the vehicle threw tools and wooden blocks out of the window at the police cruiser.

A tire deflation device was eventually used in a rural area east of the city, stopping the vehicle. The two people inside were arrested and a search turned up a pellet gun.

29-year-old Tyrone Vaughn Wiebe of Grande Prairie is facing nine charges, including flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. 30-year-old Cheyanne House of Grande Prairie is facing a handful of charges, including assaulting a peace officer and mischief under $5,000.

Wiebe was remanded into custody, while House was released on a release order. Both are scheduled to appear in court on July 26th.
