Grande Prairie Forest Area wildfire danger low

The wildfire danger for the Grande Prairie Forest Area has dropped to low.

There are still 10 wildfires burning in the region, of which two are being held and eight are under control. One of those under control is 17 kilometres east of Valleyview, which is 50 hectares in size.

The wildfire 20 kilometres north of Valhalla is now considered to be 100 per cent contained with a guard and 90 per cent controlled. It’s estimated to be 872 hectares in size and is classified as under control.

Since the start of the year, there have been 50 wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area burning nearly 141,423 hectares.
