UPDATE #2: As of 10:49 p.m. Monday Environment Canada has ended the severe thunderstorm warning for the Grande Prairie region, including Wembley, Sexsmith and La Glace.
UPDATE: As of 10:12 p.m. Enviroment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the area near Grande Prairie and Wembley.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the County of Grande Prairie near Sexsmith and La Glace.
As of 9:26 p.m. Monday the national weather organization reports meterologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms that can produce high winds and could produce upwards of nickel-sized hail.
Residents are being reminded strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. If you see threatening weather approaching, you are advised to take cover immediately and avoid driving through water on roads.
Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
