Helicopter crash near Slave Lake

The pilot of a helicopter that crashed near Slave Lake Saturday escaped with only non-life threatening injuries. The Bell 412 helicopter was helping with fire fighting efforts when it went down roughly 58 kilometres northeast of the town.

According to RCMP, the pilot was the only person on board, and they were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Their name and the name of the company they work for is not being released.

At this point the cause of the crash is unknown. An investigation by police, the Transportation Safety Board, and aviation investigators is underway.
