Storm releases pre-season, regular season schedule

The Grande Prairie Storm has released its 2023-2024 season schedule, with the team’s home opener scheduled for Friday, September 22nd for a back-to-back home stand against the Drayton Valley Thunder.

Before the Storm starts the regular season it will compete in five exhibition games. The first two games and the fourth game of the exhibition series will be against the Whitecourt Wolverines, who knocked the Storm out of the 2022-2023 playoffs, with games three and five being against the Dayton Valley Thunder.

The Storm will open its regular season campaign on September 15th in Spruce Grove against the Saints, followed by a game in Sherwood Park on the 16th. The Jr. A teams’ following three games will be in Grande Prairie at Bonnetts Energy Centre. The Storms’ regular season will be from September 15th, 2023 to March 2nd, 2024.

The AJHL playoffs are scheduled to start on March 4th, with the league changing their playoff format for the upcoming season. According to the AJHL, “the top 14 teams will qualify for the 2024 AJHL Playoffs and the top two teams will receive a bye in Round One.”

The AJHL is also introducing a pilot program this season in the league for video reviews of goals in AJHL arenas.
