Grande Prairie youth to learn business basics on Lemonade Day

Young entrepreneurs in the Grande Prairie region will be learning the basics of running a business during Lemonade Day this year.

Community Futures Grande Prairie & Region is running this year’s program in Grande Prairie, Wembley, Beaverlodge, and Sexsmith. The June 17th event is free for kids to participate in and according to the Community Futures “teaches kids how to start, own and operate their very own business,” by opening a lemonade stand for the day. Through the program, kids are encouraged to spend some of their earnings, save some, and share some with many choosing to do so by donating a portion to their charity of choice.

This year there will be 36 stands open in the Grande Prairie region, including three in Beaverlodge, and one in both Wembley and Sexsmith. Some of this year’s stand names and themes include Splash of Sunshine Lemonade, The Galatic Lemons, Tropical Bliss Lemonade and Game Time Lemonade.

Across the province in 2022, 953 youth participated in Lemonade Day and $12,185.09 was donated to local charities from the day’s proceeds.
