Evacuation alert issued as Peavine Creek wildfire crosses into Alberta

The County of Grande Prairie has issued an evacuation alert for those located north of Township Road 732, west of Range Road 131 and south of Township Road 742. The alert has been issued as a result of the Peavine Creek wildfire crossing the BC – Alberta border and burning 5.5 kilometre west of Preston Lake.

According to the Alberta Emergency Alert winds are pushing the fire to the east.

“The situation is being carefully monitored and if conditions do not improve and evacuation will be required.”

Residents in the alert zone are being advised to prepare to evacuate with one hour’s notice and to have enough supplies including medications, food and water for seven days away from home. The alert also advises residents to gather important documents, pets and fuel up vehicles.
