Grande Prairie man faces dangerous driving and weapons charges

A 43-year-old Grande Prairie man is facing nearly a dozen charges, including trying to flee from police and dangerous driving.

According to Grande Prairie RCMP around 1:10 p.m. on May 24th the Crime Reduction Unit attempted to stop a vehicle which was driving “erratically in the area of 102 Street and 101 Avenue,” when the vehicle took off and fled from police. Officials say because of public safety concerns police did not follow the suspect, but were able to monitor the vehicle until it stopped in the Pinnacle Ridge area.

Police arrested the driver and during a search of the vehicle police found a firearm and several rounds of ammunition throughout the vehicle.

Koang Mach is facing charges including flight from police, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle. Mach has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in provincial court on June 7th.
