Bear Creek Dam pedestrian bridge, pathway closed for maintenance work

The pedestrian bridge and pathway by the Bear Creek Dam is closed until at least June 30th because of construction in the area.

Crews are working on completing safety and maintenance work on the Bear Creek Dam, and according to the city will be using “some larger work items.”

The bridge and pathway are close and being removed as part of the work the pedestrian bridge and associated pathway will be closed and removed. Foot traffic will be rerouted onto a temporary gravel path along dam crest when crews have fencing in place. Once a route with a temporary surface over the dam is open, those who walk in the area are told they may experience minor disruptions while paving work continues in the coming weeks.

The city says in a statement “Following completion of the paving work, pedestrians will be able to use the trail across the top of the dam and construction will continue on either side of the trail with minor disruptions to be expected as equipment crosses the trail.”
