Outdoor pool to open for summer with a splash

The Aquatera Outdoor Pool will open on Saturday for the City of Grande Prairie and Aquatera’s “Here Comes Summer” event.

During June, the pool will be open Monday to Friday from 3 to 10 p.m. and from 12 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. In July, the pool will open at 12 p.m. during the week and 10 a.m. on the weekend.

Mayor Jackie Clayton says the pool is a place to gather, have fun, and be active in the community.

“We’re excited to welcome visitors back to this hallmark facility that’s helped families make memories for generations and enjoy another summer of splashing fun and outdoor recreation for the whole family.”

On Saturday, June 3rd, the free Here Comes Summer event will be happening at Muskoseepi Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the pool being open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Swimming will be broken into time slots in an effort to accommodate more people throughout the day.

The first time slot is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the last one is from 7 to 10 p.m. The rest of the day will include a community BBQ, the season opening of the Muskoseepi splash park and a scavenger hunt among the activities happening.

“Grande Prairie has so many great outdoor recreation amenities where residents can keep active, have fun and enjoy being outside,” Clayton says.

According to the city, the event will also mark the start of recreation and parks month.
