A 26-year-old man is facing several charges after allegedly trying to steal from a business in Grande Prairie, resulting in one person suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Grande Prairie RCMP says officers responded to reports of an assault and theft at a business in the area of 99 Avenue and 92 Street around 9:56 p.m. on May 29th.
Police say the suspect entered the business and attempted to steal items when he was confronted by an employee. The suspect is said to have assaulted the employee and threatened to use a knife before fleeing the store before police arrived.
Officers were reportedly able to identify the suspect in the area of 97 Street and 100 Avenue. Jayden Ferguson faces charges for robbery, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and resisting arrest.
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on May 31st.
