Central Peace – Notley records highest local voter turnout

Central Peace – Notley saw the highest turnout of eligible voters in the Peace Country Monday. A total of 64.5 per cent, or 11,947 of 18,495 eligible voters, cast their ballot in the provincial general election.

Grande Prairie – Wapiti saw the second-highest turnout with 58.6 per cent, or 19,818 out of 33,801 eligible voters, while the Grande Prairie riding had a 51.5 per cent turnout. Meanwhile, Peace River recorded the the lowest turn out of the region with 51 per cent, 11,303 out of 22,138 registered voters casting a ballot.

In 2019, Grande Prairie – Wapiti saw the highest voter turnout in the province with 80.2 per cent of eligible voters casting a ballot.

Across the province, Elections Alberta says 62.4 per cent of registered voters cast a ballot this year, down from 67.5 per cent in 2019.
