$49K+ raised for local charities and Ronald McDonald House Charities during McHappy Day

The Grande Prairie and Clairmont Mcdonald’s this year raised $49,542.98, from a portion of the proceeds of every menu item purchased on May 10th. Funds raised were donated to the Grande Prairie Firefighters Foundation and My LuvPack Ltd. who each received a check for $12,514, and Ronald McDonald House Charities who received a check for $25,028.00.

In a post thanking not only the business but also the community the Charitable Foundation says the funds raised from McHappy Day “will be used to help supplement meals and snacks for our local kids throughout the next school year in the Grande Prairie Region.”

Back in February, the charitable foundation donated $15,000 towards this focus, with First Vice Chair of the Foundation Riley Boomgaarden explaining to mygrandeprairienow.com the donation was split evenly amongst the divisions, with each getting $5,000.

“There is obviously a ton of kids who are going to school a little bit hungry and nobody wants that,” Boomgaarden said. “They need the proper nutrition so that way they are able to learn.
