Eagle Complex evacuation zone increased to include townships west of Highway 43

As of 4:51 p.m. Friday the evacuation area for the Eagle Complex wildfires has been extended to include communities up to Highway 947.

The evacuation includes Townships 62-25-5 to 65-25-5, 62-24-5 to 65-24-5,62-23-5 to 65-23-5, 62-22-5 to 65-22-5, and 62-21-5 to 65-21-5. Residents are being told take Highway 43 to Whitecourt and check into the reception centre at Allen and Jean Millar Centre.

Residents on Road 232 to 211 are on an evacuation alert and being told to be ready to evacuate with an hours notice.

Since 3:05 p.m. Thursday, Highway 43 has been closed between Little Smoky and Fox Creek due to the current wildfire situation in the area. As of 1:30 p.m. Friday Alberta Wildfire reported the two fires making up the Eagle complex were approximately 58,858 and 28, 959 hectares in size.
