Evacuation downgraded for part of the Sturgeon Lake evac zone, Town of Valleyview

As of 12 p.m. Thursday, May 18th, the evacuation order will be downgraded to an alert for the Town of Valleyview and part of the evacuation zone around the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation and M.D. of Greenview.

Those who live east of Range Road 225, south of Township Road 710, west of Highway 49 and Range Road 222 and north of Township Road 700 can return home but are being advised to stay prepared to evacuate again on short notice. Anyone with respiratory issues is advised to not return home just yet, as heavy smoke remains in the area.

According to the M.D., the evacuation order remains in effect for the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation and anyone who lives east of Range Road 242, north to Township Road 722, West of Highway 49, South to Township Road 710, West to Range Road 225 and South of Township Road 700.
