Drivers advised to expect Westpointe construction slowdowns until end of June

The City of Grande Prairie is advising drivers between now and the end of June speed limits will be reduced and traffic will be restricted in some areas due to road construction in Wespointe. Over the next six weeks, eight streets in the area will have the existing surface removed, and new pavement laid, along with work on spots of the sidewalk and storm sewer system completed.

Crews will work Monday to Saturday. The speed limit in the construction area will be reduced to 30 kilometres an hour.

Mayor Jackie Clayton is thanking residents for their understanding during the construction.

“We recognize the impact it has on your morning commutes and daily routines,” Clayton says. “We thank you for your support as the investment in the road network underscores our commitment to improving transportation infrastructure for the entire communities benefit.”

82 Avenue from 113 Street to east of 114 Street
83 Avenue between 113 Street and Westpointe Drive
112 Street from 75A Avenue to north of 81 Avenue
113 Street between 81 Avenue and 83 Avenue
114 Street between 82 Avenue and 83 Avenue
115A Street between 78 Avenue and 81 Avenue
80 Avenue from Westpointe Drive to 115A Street
