Heat warning issued for GP and surrounding area

Hot weather in the forecast has prompted Environment Canada to issue a heat warning for both the Grande Prairie and Peace River regions. It says highs near 30 degrees and lows in the mid to high teens are expected this weekend and into Monday.

During that time, people in the area are encouraged to take precautions, like taking frequent breaks from the heat when possible and drinking plenty of water.

“Monitor for symptoms of heat stroke or heat exhaustion, such as high body temperature, lack of sweat, confusion, fainting, and unconsciousness. Pay particular attention to individuals that can experience earlier or more severe effects from heat.”
