Residents remaining in Fox Creek, Little Smoky area under evacuation order

Any residents remaining in the Town of Fox Creek, the Hamlet of Little Smoky or the areas surrounding those communities are being told to evacuate immediately. The updated evacuation order was issued at 6:46 p.m. Thursday. At the latest residents have until 12:00 p.m. Friday to evacuate.

Residents are being told to head to Whitecourt by taking Highway 43 and register at evacuation reception centre located at the Alan and Jean Millar Center.

As of 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, the Fox Creek fire was approximately 21,568 hectares in size and burning out of control.
