UPDATE: Saddle Hills County wildfire grows to more than 2,000 hectares

UPDATE: As of 9:47 p.m., authorities are asking residents living next to the fire area to perform mitigation measures on their property in case the fire moves in their direction in the coming days. It has now grown to more than 2,000 hectares and has spread down into the Peace River valley.

Provincial firefighters are helping battle the blaze.

An out-of-control wildfire is burning in Saddle Hills County. According to an Alberta Emergency Alert, the fire is moving toward the Peace River and is currently threatening structures in the area.

Anyone in the Fourth Creek area, between Township Road 840 and the Peace River, between Range Road 75 and Range Road 85 is urged to evacuate immediately.
