Second degree murder charges laid in connection to Whitefish Lake First Nation homicide

Second degree murder charges have been laid against a 31-year-old man in connection with the death of a woman from Whitefish Lake First Nation.

High Prairie RCMP says it received a report of an assault at a home in Atikameg on April 27th, and when officers arrived, they found 56-year-old Beatrice Laboucan dead. Police say during their investigation, a suspect was also arrested on scene.

Police say as a result of further investigation, 31-year-old Tristan Patrick Kayne Grey was charged with second degree murder. Grey was remanded in custody and will next appear in court on May 29th.
