Man charged in Fox Creek fatal stabbings

Charges have been laid against the man suspected of killing two people in a knife attack at a work camp near Fox Creek. 28 year old Daniel Goodridge of Edmonton is facing both a first degree and second degree murder charge, two assault with a weapon charges against civilians and one against a police officer. He is also charged with interfering with human remains.

Fox Creek RCMP responded to Berland Open Lodge, roughly 50 kilometres away from Fox Creek, just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, June 30th. Officers found a 37 year old man from LaCrete and a 50 year old woman from Red Deer dead at the scene. Their names have not been released.

The suspect was still armed with a knife, and was shot by police. He was transported to an Edmonton hospital in serious condition, but an update on his health has not been given.

Goodridge is scheduled to appear in Fox Creek court on July 27th. Autopsies were scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
