Fire advisory issued for County of Grande Prairie

As of 3 p.m. on April 27th, a fire advisory will be in effect for the entire County of Grande Prairie, including the towns of Sexsmith, Wembley and Beaverlodge.

County officials say the advisory was put in place as dry, windy conditions persist in the region. Those with existing fire permits will be permitted to burn, however, any new permits will be doled out on a case by case basis. Burning of any kind, outside of a campfire, is prohibited without a permit until the advisory is lifted.

The advisory comes just a day after Alberta Wildfire also raised the wildfire danger level in the Grande Prairie Forest Area to high from moderate.
