St. Catherine teacher nominated for Edwin Parr teacher award

A first-year teacher from St. Catherine School has been named as the Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools nominee for the Alberta School Board Association’s Edwin Parr Award. Originally from Sexsmith, the school division says Angela Sheppard not only has genuine care for the youth they teach, but also understands the importance of building positive relationships and consistently tries to improve her practices.

“She has developed various engaging and authentic activities and tasks to meet the diverse needs of her students. Her instructional activities are always hands-on. Angela understands her students very well. She is aware of the variety of learning styles and preferences in her class and can effectively plan for her students using this information.”

The Edwin Parr award was created in 1964 to celebrate the efforts of first-year teachers.
