Community groups begin roadside cleanup in the county this weekend

The annual roadside cleanup in the County of Grande Prairie will begin on April 22nd, and drivers in the area are being asked to keep an eye out for crews and drive with caution.

Community groups will be collecting litter along roadsides and ditches as part of the annual cleanup program. According to the county, there will be signs posted in the cleanup areas, and the volunteers will be wearing high-visibility safety vests.

According to the county, the roadside cleanup is an annual event where local, non-profit organizations can raise funds by cleaning up the roadsides, ditches, and hamlets across the municipality. In 2022, 45 groups cleaned up over 299 km of County roads, picking up roughly 14 tonnes of litter, collectively raising $69,910.

The cleanup schedule and locations will be added to the interactive map on the county’s website.
