STEM-centred learning part of St. Patrick School modernization

Students of the modernized St. Patrick Catholic School will be learning through a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics focus when the doors open come September 5th.

According to Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools, this approach means STEM techniques will be integrated into subjects and will help students develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving, and creativity skills through different hands-on activities and experiences. Students will reportedly not only have the opportunity to experiment but will be encouraged to explore and discover the principles and concepts they are learning in real life.

According to the school division, taking this approach to teaching will help their students “develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world and contribute to the development of new technologies, innovations, and solutions to complex problems,” adding, “A student well-versed and literate in these fields tends to be an innovative and critical thinker.”
