UPDATE: Fatal crash closes Highway 2 near Webster

UPDATE: A 20-year-old man from Grande Prairie has died following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2 early Tuesday morning. According to RCMP, they received a report of a collision between Township Road 750 and Township Road 760 near Webster around 4:48 a.m. Officials say according to the initial investigation a car collided head-on with a vacuum truck. The lone occupant of the car was pronounced deceased on the scene, and one of the two occupants of the vacuum truck was taken to the hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries, the other was uninjured.

Officials say they are continuing to investigate the circumstances around the collision.

Highway 2 remains closed due to a fatal crash north of Webster. Spirit River RCMP says the two-vehicle collision happened between Township Roads 750 and 760.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area as an RCMP Collision Analyst helps with the investigation. Delays are expected for some time.

No further details have been released at this time.
