$120K in provincial funding aimed to address PACE Centre wait list

Pace Community Support, Sexual Assault & Trauma Centre is one of 13 sexual assault centres across the province receiving provincial funding meant to help address current wait lists. The Alberta government has committed $120,370 to the Grande Prairie-based sexual assault centre, along with a $400,000 commitment provincially to help expand the way services can by accessed by sexual assault survivors who are currently waiting.

Parliamentary Secretary for Status of Women Tanya Fir says she is glad to see the funding will be used to address the immediate concern regarding waitlists.

“It is critical that when somebody reaches out, help is available,” Fir says. “Our government’s response to this concern is ensuring that sexual assault survivors across the province can get the support they need and deserve.”

Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services Jeremy Nixon adds to Fir’s statement by saying the province cannot go without the support and resources provided by these organizations.
