Grande Prairie being included on the list of cities with operating room projects included in a $120 million commitment from the provincial government over the next three years.
Minister of Infrastructure Nathan Neudorf says expanding operating rooms across Alberta is a step in the right direction to creating additional surgery spaces, in turn reducing patient wait times for procedures.
“As the minister in charge of the construction process for these projects, I am thrilled that more construction and related jobs will be created in the lead up to helping our health care system grow and thrive.”
Official Administrator of Alberta Health Services Dr. John Cowell says the additional funding will help improve health outcomes in the province. He adds AHS is focused on improving Albertans’ access to surgeries and to reducing wait times, especially for those who are waiting outside of the clinically recommended timeframes.
