Annual City Scrub happening throughout April

Grande Prairie residents are being encouraged to get outside during the month of April to help clean up the city. The annual City Scrub is happening around the community until April 30th.

The yearly initiative is a clean-up that encourages residents to care for the community by picking up litter that’s accumulated throughout the winter.

This year, the city is encouraging residents to take 20 minutes and pick up garbage in parks and neighbourhoods close to their homes. Any garbage that is collected can be put out in their curbside garbage cart with the rest of the weekly garbage pickup.

The city is supplying free cleaning supplies to those participating in the community clean up including garbage
bags and gloves. Supply pickup locations include City Hall, Muskoseepi Park, the Eastlink Centre, Grande Prairie Museum and the City Service Centre.

Engagement Advisor Jessica Ross says taking the 20 minutes and cleaning up the community makes a difference.

“Together, we can create a more beautiful environment for ourselves and future generations,” Ross says.

More information about the City Scrub can be found on the City of Grande Prairie website.
