City gauging interest of possible new hotel by Grande Prairie Airport

The City of Grande Prairie has put out a Request for an Expression of Interest (RFEI) for the possible construction, ownership and operation of a hotel adjacent to the Grande Prairie Airport.

According to the city, the RFEI will allow them to gather information from those interested, along with determining if there is a market for the opportunity. The land subject to the RFEI is owned by the city, and not currently zoned for a hotel according to the submission documents, so if the city decided to move forward with the bid it would need to be rezoned.

According to city documents, moving forward with the project is a two-stage process, with the RFEI a part of stage one. If the city decides to continue with the process then they will move on to phase two, the Request for Proposal (RFP), where submissions will require detailed plans to illustrate the development and operation of the project.

Those interested have until April 14th at 2:00 p.m. to put in their submissions.
