One of two people charged in connection to a Kijiji scam will be going to trial. 29 year old Brandon Smith is pleading not guilty to charges relating to theft, fraud, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
Smith allegedly took damage deposits from prospective renters without showing them the properties, using various names, email addresses, and phone numbers. His co-accused Cyndi Kennedy pleaded guilty to her charges earlier this year and was sentenced to 16 months in jail.
A trial date for Smith will be set following an arraignment in September. He’s electing to a trial by judge.
